TXL Data organises its US database into the folders comprising of the following security types. A description of each security type is below the table. Only those securities in your subscription packages will be updated.

Equities
Common Stock – An equity security that represents ownership in a corporation. This is the first security a corporation issues to raise capital.
Preferred Stock – An equity security that represents ownership in a corporation. It has a fixed dividend, has a divided preference over common stock, and generally carries no voting right.
Unit Trusts – pooled investments, where the funds are held with a trustee company and a manager is employed to invest the funds on behalf of the unitholders.
Rights – new shares made available to existing shareholders for purchase, the number of shares being in proportion to the current holding. The new shares are often issued at a discount to the current price.
Callable Preferred Stock – A type of preferred stock that carries the provision that the corporation retains the right to call in the stock at a certain price and retire it.
Convertible Bond – A type of debt security (usually in the form of a debenture) that can be converted (exchanged) into equity securities o f the issuing corporation, that is, common and preferred stock.
Convertible Preferred Stock – A type of preferred stock that offers the holder the privilege of exchanging (converting) the preferred stock into common stock at specified price or rates. Dividends may be cumulative or noncumulative.
Cumulative Preferred Stock – A type of preferred stock that offers the holder any unpaid dividends in arrears. These dividends accumulate and must be paid to the holder of cumulative preferred stock before any dividends can be paid to the common stockholders.
American Depository Receipt (ADR) – A negotiable receipt for a given number of shares of stock in a foreign corporation. An ADR is bought and sold in the American securities markets just as stock is traded.
Indices
The Indices are a summary of a basket of stocks often based on industry groupings, capitalisation and eligibility for certain types of trading. The most well known index in the Dow Jones Industrial Index (30 stocks), NASDAQ composite (broad measure of all NASDAQ stocks) and the S&P500 (top 500 stocks by market capitalisation).
